Victorian Era Shell Art Shadowbox

$215.00

Late 1800's. With long days of summer spent at the seaside, Victorian ladies also needed something to fill the rainy days. This type of homemade art is emblematic of how they would spend the hours using shells collected on the beach. Set in an ornately framed very deep shadowbox, this example is in very good 125+ year old condition. Shells remain firmly attached to the painted backdrop. Inside edges of frame shows a few small nicks (see photos). 15.5 x 13.5 and an astonishing 5" deep
