Large carved wood gilt mirror with framed and signed watercolor. Great piece of old department story history. Pogue's Department Store of Cincinnati would commission paintings of various scenes to use as decorative tops to these hand carved and gilded mirrors. In overall excellent 75+ year old condition. Painting is protected by glass. Slight finish loss to gilding. Slight loss to mirroring. 53" high x 13.5 wide x 2" deep. A unique piece rarely seen.

H. & S. Pogue Company, also known as Pogue's, was a prominent department store chain based in Cincinnati, Ohio, founded in 1863. It was considered one of the region's finest department stores before being sold in 1961 and eventually disappearing in 1988.
