19th Century Painted European Blanket Chest

Oversized and hand painted with blues, floral motif and large bird figure in the center image. We especial like the way the old growth white pine wood was allowed to remain visible in each of the rectangular works. End boards retain their original faded red aniline dye surface. Measures 57" across x 29" high x 24" deep. Hand made iron hardware is firmly attached and lid is secure to the chest. Works as it should. No undue splits or cracks. No rot or warping. Normal patina and wear after approximately two centuries. The width of the boards is remarkable! Inside is free of any bad odors or stains.
