C. Wolff Signed Horsehair Raku Lidded Pottery Vessel / Urn

This studio pottery vessel is crafted in the horsehair raku tradition. The piece features a globular body with a tiered, stepped neck and a matching lid with a tiered finial. The base is incised with the signature C. Wolff. The exterior surface is unglazed with a matte, off-white finish, decorated with fine carbon lines and smoky black trails created by the application of horsehair during the firing process. The interior of the neck and rim is finished with a contrasting turquoise glaze. Wonderful textures. No horses were harmed!
